News Update September, 2017.

Update 26th September.

Masterkova wins first up at Ballarat in 1.56.6 by a half neck in a terrific effort to hold out the favourite.  The Falcon Seelster – Vickymurphy filly was sold by Yorkshire Park at the 2016 APG Yearling sales in Melbourne.  A bright future ahead for this terrific looking filly.

News, News, News:

Well after a short break it’s good to be back and providing updates on the progress of Yorkshire Park bred, raced and breeding horses.

As with all things in life sometimes you are dealt a card that is totally devastating.  On Wednesday night Whitney H in foal to Art Major suffered complications foaling and unfortunately we lost both the mare and foal by Art Major.  To say this was terrible news was an understatement as we had high hopes for the daughter of Changeover at stud following a short but very promising racing career.  She was such a beautiful mare to do anything with and despite some tears we now need to focus on the remaining mares to foal in the next month or so.

Lombo Socialite in foal to Sportswriter is due to foal on the 3rd October, Ima Ritzi Lombo in foal to Village Jolt on the 11th October and Vickymurphy in foal to Somebeachsomewhere on the 20th October.  We then have a short break before the next three mares are due in November and December.

On the racing scene Whosashadylady has headed to Tasmania to join the stables of Adrian Duggan near Hobart and we have had good reports on her progress since arriving in the apple isle.  Both our two year olds in NZ have been sent to the paddock for a short spell after doing really well in their early preparation.

Great to see Social Fireball great the judge at Bendigo the other Friday night after a couple of really good runs in much better company.  Artful Christian has had no luck of late but another win is just around the corner for him.  The really good news is the 3YO filly Masterkova (Falcon Seelster – Vickymurphy) will make her debut at Ballarat next Tuesday 26th September for the Emma Stewart stable after a couple of really good trials at Ballarat and Melton.  Sold at the 2015 APG Yearling sales the stunning looking filly looks to have good potential and Yorkshire Park look forward to seeing her in action.

Really disappointing to hear that the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale is heading back to Melton after a really successful sale at the Oaklands Junction sales centre last year.  Unfortunately Melton isn’t an attractive sales complex and I understand it has been done on a cost basis.  I wonder if they thought about the cost to the breeders when you can’t attract a crowd or investors at a sub standard facility.

In November I will be heading to NZ to the NZ Cup week which I’m really looking forward too.  Lots of things to do including NZ Cup function, the NZ Cup at Addington, a trip to Ashburton Trots, visits to Nevele R Stud and the mighty Mark Purdon and Natalie Rassmussen All Stars stable.  It will also be a good chance to visit our NZ trainer John Hay and inspect the two year olds currently in work at Ashburton as well.

That’s about it for now, looking forward to bringing you some good news on the breeding front in the coming weeks

Don’t forget you can catch us on Twitter @yorkshirepark19.

That’s about all for now.

Good luck and good punting.
