It’s good to be back and providing updates for Yorkshire Park on what has been going on from a racing, breeding and general update perspective. One thing for sure we have had plenty of rain over the last three months and no doubt we are all looking forward to some sunny and warm weather to finish off towards the end of the year.
On the racing scene it has been a mixed bag for Yorkshire Park’s current racing team. Watch The Dream is on her way back and will be at the trials in the next fortnight. Trainer Graham Lyon reports that she is progressing well with slightly different preparation to last time in work which we hope will bring that winning formula back to the Bettors Delight mare. She looks in terrific condition and her work has been very good. Let’s hope she can break that nine seconds she recorded last time in work.
I Can Dream in the John Hay stables in NZ has been progressing well until recently when she has just not taken that next step to get her to the trials. It will be crunch time for the well bred filly in the next week or two and a decision will need to be made to continue on or maybe head her straight to the breeding barn. She looks terrific in herself but really needs to make that next step.
Stylish Icon is enjoying a well deserved spell and has been in the paddock for about two months now. Its been a wet winter/ spring all round but she has done particularly well and looks a treat. We will discuss her likely return to the race track with trainer Paul Campbell shortly.
Great to see a couple of Yorkshire Park bred horses winning recently notably Major Charge at Cranbourne at the massive odds of $65 a win and the Tasmanian owned and trained Aitutaki who greeted the judge at Launceston following some consistent form in the stable of Ben Yole.
On the breeding scene Yorkshire Park has a lovely Western Terror filly born recently out of the Bettors Delight mare Vickymurphy. Good news also for us with Neishars Jet delivering a Major In Art colt this week, a beautiful black colt. Yorkshire Park has a small interest in the mare in conjunction with a number of Kyabram footballers who delivered on the football field this year going through undefeated all season. Well done boys, lets hope this little colt can deliver on the race track in the same way. This week we expect to see the arrival of a Angus Hall foal out of our trotting mare La Tonneralla who is due shortly. We also await a Rock N Roll Heaven foal out of My Little Black Dress and a Majestic Son foal out of Sixty Plus. On the sad side our mare Ima Ritzi Lombo slipped her foal recently which is always devastating to have take place. She will now go back to Village Jolt this season.
Yorkshire Park will be updating our web site shortly which will have some changes which we think will enhance our site and make it even more interesting for our followers. We have some great new photos of our new property, updated photos of our horses, some videos and a slightly different format. Looking forward to see how it all works out.
This time of the year is fantastic from a racing perspective with the return of all the good horses preparing for Country Cups and a trip to the Inter Dominion in Perth. If you haven’t seen the performance of Hectorjayjay (1.57.6) in the Swan Hill Cup recently do your self a favour and watch him absolutely destroy a classy field in track record time. Both Country Cups run to date have been fantastic races with Ohaka Punter taking out the Maryborough Cup in style today. Really makes you look forward to the rest of the Cup season.
Yearling Sale time is not that far way and our boys who are entered for the sales are back at Yorkshire Park for some further education and then some more time out in the paddock before heading to Rhiannon Park to be prepared for the sales by Blanche and Dean Poole. We have six colts heading to the sales this year and we will soon find out what sales they will be represented in. To date I’m really pleased with the colts and I can assure you there will be something for everyone heading to the sales from Yorkshire Park. Five pacers by Pet Rock, Alta Christiano, Sportswriter, Auckland Reactor and Courage Under Fire plus our only trotting colt by Majestic Son will represent the Yorkshire Park draft. We will update with some photos as we progress and get closer to the sales.
That’s about it for now.
Talk soon.
