Great to be able to provide an update on the racing and breeding scene at Yorkshire Park with plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Since our last update the winners have kept on coming with Birkirkara 2 more wins to make it 10 out of 16 starts, I Draintheswamp in the USA taking a further two wins and Kialla Kid returning from a spell to register a further win in his career. Alifetimeforliving has returned from a spell in sparkling form with two further wins and qualifying for the Victoria Oaks Group 1 of $150,000 to be run at Melton on Saturday 18 October. Let’s hope the filly part owned by Yorkshire Park gets a good barrier draw in the 2760 metre event.
More action on the racing scene with Luna Diva & Brightly Blaze making their racetrack debuts and Our Miki Diva will head to the Shane Graham stable in Queensland to finish of her racing career before going to stud. Brightly Blaze will head to Adrian Duggan in Tasmania to finish off her two-year-old career before heading back to Victoria as a three-year-old.
Our yearlings are coming along nicely with our Always Watching (by Always B Miki) filly returning from her first preparation this week, Seaside Elegance (Downbytheseaside) filly headed back to the paddock after her first preparation as did Sweet Kova (Sweet Lou) filly just completed her breaking in process.
On the breeding scene we await the arrival of our first foals with Watch the Dream (Cannibal) and Classy Countess (Ride High) hopefully foaling in late October. We then have four mares to foal down in late November, Carrera Mystic (Soho Tribecca), Sixty Plus (King of the North), Masterkova (Poster Boy) and She Will Rock (Ride High) who is part owned by Yorkshire Park.
Magical has headed to stud to be served by E L Titan while Watch the Dream will be served by Captain Crunch and Classy Countess by Major Moth. The other mares we have not quite settled on as yet.
This year I will be heading to the New Zealand Cup week one of the real iconic events in harness racing. I’m looking forward to the Cup launch on Sunday 9 November then to the Cup on the 11 November. Excited to be back as it’s been a while since my last NZ Cup week.
That’s about all for now.
Good luck and good punting.
Yorkshire Park Team.
