Yorkshire Park bred horses had a much better month with three winners for the month and multiple placings. King Tintin made it win number six when he saluted at Wagga in a heat of the Regional Breeders Challenge, Azterian made it win number seven when he won in a tight finish at Echuca and little Syzate duly saluted at Launceston making it win number four. Classy Countess and Nevs Dream continue to produce honest performance and placings at the track and hopefully both can notch up another win in the future. Dreams Are Bettor owned by Yorkshire Park and in the care of Adrian Duggan in Tasmania has been very disappointing of late and a collective decision has been made to retire the mare. We are currently looking at options for life after racing for Emmy and a decision will be made as to the next steps for her in the coming weeks.
On the breeding scene we have started to turn our minds to what stallions we will be sending our mares to for the coming breeding season. Over the next few weeks, we will be booking mares into stud and starting the process all over again.
While on breeding the results that have recently been published by HRA suggest that the Victorian breeding season has taken a 23% decline in numbers last year while Tasmania has declined by 17%. Most of the other states had a small increase or held their numbers for the past season. Alarm bells should be ringing in the offices of HRA and HRV based on these numbers. Maybe no one is home!
Further updates to follow on this subject along with new stallion options for 2023-2024 season.
Thats about all for now.
Good luck and good punting.
Yorkshire Park team.
