A lot to report for Yorkshire Park this month with our horses on both sides of the Tasman taking up new exciting challenges and positive reports out of our trainers stables.
Today (31/5/2015) Whitney H raced at Ashburton and ran a terrific race despite having no luck at all, and again featuring in the stewards report when she couldn’t get a crack at them up the straight to finish fourth over 2400M in 2.2.7, last half in 58.0 and home in 27.7 from the stand. Driven by New Zealand’s best reinsman Dexter Dunn she was so unlucky with Dexter not even getting a chance to remove the deafners. Whitney has finished fourth at each of her three NZ race starts. Following discussions with her trainer John Hay it was felt it best for Whitney to do the rest of her racing her in Australia and on Tuesday (2nd June) morning will land in Sydney on her way to John Caldows’ stables at Melton.
While still in New Zealand John Hay also reported that our yearling filly “I Can Dream” has progressed well in her education and will now head to the paddock for a couple of months while John & Ineka head for a well earned break themselves in a sunny and much warmer Brisbane.
Back in Australia “Watch The Dream” headed back to the Shane Tritton stables on Saturday to continue her racing career and we can report that she did really well in the paddock during her two months break. Looking forward to seeing Dreamy back at the race track in the future.
Cavalier Christian disappointed recently at his recent start at Charlton and we hope he will find some improvement at his next race attempt. Having his share of issues he has been a challenge along the way but we are hopeful things will turn around. Our Major In Art – Back Cover Lover yearling filly is back in work and our For A Reason filly which was entered for the Sydney APG sale has recovered from her back injury and is now at the breakers with all reports on her very good.
The remainder of our weanlings are coming along well and we expect to get a few more back home over the coming months. This is always an exciting time for us as we start to work with the weanlings and further their education.
Good luck to Brian Tuddenham on Wednesday (3rd June) with Yorkshire Park bred Changeover Fella running at Melton over 1720M to be driven by Chris Alford. It has taken Brian a while to work him out but all reports seem to be heading in the right direct with the Changeover gelding.
On another note it was disappointing to read the Racing Integrity Commissioners report handed down on the Ballarat Pacing Cup saga over the scratching of horses due to the sulky size issue. In a report that cover 99 pages the report while addressing some of the issues really failed to give any direct assessment of the actions of a number of participants which turned the Cup into a debacle. I’m sure that the Ballarat Club must be scratching their heads and searching for some sort of explanation.
If you are interested in racing or purchasing a Yorkshire Park bred horse please drop us a note as we will have horses for sale, lease and syndication.
Good luck,
Yorkshire Park team.
