It has been a little while since we provided an update on proceedings at Yorkshire Park, but we did have the good fortune of spending Xmas and New Year in Fiji for a well-earned break. Really enjoyed the people and the hospitality not forgetting just how beautiful the scenery is. Back home now and looking forward to 2025 with hopefully plenty of winners.
On the breeding scene the last of our mares foaled with Magical providing us with a beautiful filly by King of the North in December. Both mare and foal are doing well.
Breeding for 2025 has begun well with Watch the Dream (Cannibal), Classy Countess (Ride High), Our Narissa Franco (Tintin in America), She Will Rock (Ride High) all in foal and Masterkova (Poster Boy), Carrera Mystic (Soho Tribecca) all having early positive tests. Both Magical (Volstead) & Sixty Plus (King of the North) are yet to have positive tests.
On the racing scene we are pleased to say the We Dealin Diamonds part owned by Yorkshire Park made her race track debut with a convincing win at Bendigo in mid-December. She has since had a short let up and she is now back in work being aimed for the Nutrien Classic in April. Another part owned filly Alifetimeforliving is also back in work and heading to the Nutrien Classic in April also. It would be nice if both fillies could make the final.
King Tintin continues his run of good form with a win in early January at Goulburn and a follow up win at Menangle. The Yorkshire Park bred colt is now the winner of 10 races and $92K in prizemoney. Our Miki Diva has returned to the track with two really good and unlucky 3rd placings in Tasmania so hopefully a win is just around the corner for her. That Maj Ya Look continues to race well without luck and once again she has her hoof on the till. We have a number of part owned or horses bred by Yorkshire Park returning to the racetrack none more exciting that Birkirkara who has been unbeaten in his three starts to date and return to the track on Tuesday 21st January. Nev’s Dream is also due to be back at the trials in the next week or so. Really pleased to see Maestro win the Gunbower Trotters Cup recently which puts him almost up to $100k in prizemoney.
Yorkshire Park have a number of young horses coming along nicely – Blaze Brightly a two-year-old half-sister to King Tintin with John Caldow, Rock N Roll Heaven filly with Graham Lyon a half to the well performed Jets Art and Azterian, Downbytheseaside colt with Mark Watson and a filly in NZ Seaside Elegance all in the educational phase of their preparations.
Don’t forget we have two yearlings headed to the Nutrien Sale on Sunday 13 April in Melbourne with a half-sister to Birkirkara by Always B Miki and a colt by Captain Crunch. Check out the Nutrien catalogue at www.nutrienstandardbred.com.au/2025-melbourne-yearling-sale for more information.
Thats about all for now.
Good luck and good punting.
Yorkshire Park Team.
