We hope everyone had a great Xmas with family and friends and welcomed in 2024 in the best way with lots of celebrations and maybe the odd new year’s resolution.
On the racing scene Yorkshire Park has been able to secure the NZ 3YO filly That Maj Ya Look a winner at Manawatu NZ in November from only two race starts. The Art Major out of There’s A Dancer (Falcon Seelster) filly has arrived safely in Australia and is currently in work with Graham Lyon at Kyabram. The filly is being syndicated and we are definitely looking forward to her progression in the coming months.
Our Miki Diva has headed to Tasmania to join the Adrian Duggan stable and performed well in her second appearance with a second placing at Hobart on Sunday. Classy Countess has been consistent with her form combining three placings before having no luck in her last start. Unfortunately, she was due to race Sunday night at Hobart, but a virus resulted in her scratching from that event.
Yorkshire Park have a number of racehorses returning from a spell with Nev’s Dream and Jets Art on the path for another campaign. Both our part owned two-year-old fillies, American Ideal x Vegas Diamond in the care of Nathan Jack and Soho Tribecca x Oneminutetodream in the care of Kerryn Manning & Grant Campbell are progressing well. We also hope to see our Vincent x Neishars Jet filly back at the Graham Lyon stables shortly.
On the breeding scene we have had mixed fortune with our mares to date. Last month I mentioned our part owned mare She Will Rock had foaled a Ride High colt and as we all do, we were very excited for our partners in the mare. Unfortunately, a fortnight after arriving we lost our colt which was devastating news for everyone. Our Sweet Lou x Masterkova filly which arrived in November has also had a visit to the veterinary clinic for an operation to remove bone chips and repair a damaged growth plate. She is doing well, and we are still confident about her racing future. But there is good news with Magical producing a colt foal by Zenith Stride, Watch the Dream producing a filly by Always B Miki and Carerra Mystic producing a colt by Captain Crunch in December, all doing well. We will upload photos of all our foals in the next day or so.
On another positive note Our Narissa Franco has a positive to Poster Boy, Carrera Mystic a positive to Pebble Beach, Masterkova a positive to Captain Crunch, She Will Rock a positive to Vincent and we await results on Watch the Dream to Downbytheseaside and Magical to King of the North.
It is a great time of the year for harness racing with the Country Cups kicking off at Bendigo last Saturday night then heading to Shepparton, Ballarat and then on to the Hunter Cup. The running of the Maori Mile for trotters at Bendigo on Saturday night was a highlight and we would like to congratulate Chris Svanosio for his training and driving performance on Arcee Phoenix breaking the track record on the night. Chris trained She Will Rock for our syndicate, and he certainly deserves all the accolades he gets on what was a fantastic training and driving performance. Max Delight won the Bendigo pacing Cup after a brilliant drive from Nathan Jack.
Thats about all for now.
Good luck and good punting.
Yorkshire Park Team.
