The months of January and early February produced three winners for Yorkshire Park owned or bred horses with the standout performance being our own Our Miki Diva who saluted at Carrick on Australia Day with a strong win over 2150 metres handled very well by her driver Jacob Duggan. The win is number three for the daughter of Always B Miki in 2.03.0 winning by 3.9 metres in comfortable fashion. Other winners bred by Yorkshire Park for the month were Good Word That at Newcastle and Azterian who chalked up win number ten for his career at Gloucester Park in WA.
Yorkshire Park have a number of racehorses returning from a spell with Nev’s Dream and Jets Art on the path for another campaign. Both our part owned two-year-old fillies, American Ideal x Vegas Diamond in the care of Nathan Jack and Soho Tribecca x Oneminutetodream in the care of Kerryn Manning & Grant Campbell are progressing well. We also hope to see our Vincent x Neishars Jet filly back at the Graham Lyon stables shortly. That Maj Ya Look recently purchased from NZ has been fully syndicated and we look forward to seeing her at the track in the next month or so.
On the breeding scene we can confirm that our mares Masterkova positive to Captain Crunch, Carrera Mystic a positive to Peeble Beach, Magical a positive to King of the North, She Will Rock a positive to Vincent and Our Narissa Franco a positive to Poster Boy. Unfortunately Watch the Dream missed this year.
Great to see the kindred bodies of harness racing in Victoria band together to meet with the Minister of racing about the current state of harness racing both financially and from an administrative perspective. Change is desperately required for the future of our sport and the lives and future of our brilliant group of young professionals coming through the system. The sport has been in a terrible state in recent years a nothing more than change at the top will start the process of rebuilding the industry. Let’s hope the Minister sees the challenges ahead and ensures change with the governing body.
Thats about all for now.
Good luck and good punting.
Yorkshire Park Team.
