News, News, News:
Plenty happening over the last month both on the racing scene and preparation for the breeding season along with weanlings (about to be yearlings) getting a bit more education.
On the racing scene Lutetia Midfrew has been sent to the paddock for a 3 month spell following her three starts to date. The Sportswriter filly performed below her best at her last start and after a long preparation and the trip from New Zealand it was decided that a spell would be in her best interests. Artful Christian continues on his consistent run of performances and a good third at Shepparton the other night added to his building prize money. On the back of that Artful Christian has been sold to Peter Svanosio and will continue on in the Chris Svanosio stable. He has been a terrific horse and we wish Peter all the best, hopefully many more wins to come. Whosashadylady will run at Hobart on Friday 17th August and following that a decision will be made as to whether she is retired or continues. She has been disappointing since her recent let up and maybe the breeding barn may be her next step. Alta Mach is back in work with Amanda Turnbull at Bathurst and we really look forward to having her back at the track.
Great to see four of our six horses presented and sold at the APG Yearling sales in 2017 make the races during this season. The latest of them will be Rocking Bugatti (Petrock x My Little Black Dress) trained by Kerryn Manning making his debut on Tuesday 21st August at Terang. Jilliby Macarena acquitted himself well recently with win in the heat and a third placing in the Group 2 Final of the APG Autumn yearling sales series. Really looking forward to the other two colts making their race track debut in the coming season.
Yorkshire Park will present a colt by Somebeachsomewhere out of Vicky Hanover at the 2019 APG Sales in February and a colt by Love You out of La Tonneralla at the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale in April. We have sold two of our weanlings this year and still have a lovely Sportswriter colt and a Village Jolt filly that we will look at putting on the market at a later date.
Yorkshire Park is gearing up for the fast approaching breeding season with four mares to foal down. Hopefully we will see foals safely on the ground by Sportswriter, Well Said, Western Terror and Love You. Still a little bit of work to be done on what mares to take to what stallions this year but at this stage we will definitely have Watch The Dream to Art Major, Vickymurphy to Sunshine Beach, Jewel Bromac to Betting Line and Ima Ritzi Lombo to Yankee Rockstar.
That’s about all for now.
