News Update April 2024

What a month or so it has been for Yorkshire Park owned horses with Our Miki Diva (Hobart) and Classy Countess (Hobart) winning in stylish fashion while Yorkshire Park bred horses also contributed to the winning circle with Maestro delivering two wins at Ballarat & Bendigo and Birkirkara winning two on the trot at Albion Park to remain undefeated.  The 3YO colt by Sweet Lou out of Watch the Dream has been very impressive in his two wins to date winning in 1.58.1 & 1.55.1 very comfortably. Fantastic to see the Yorkshire Park bred trotter La Volonte finish second beaten a half head at Maryborough last week finally trotting all the way.  La Volonte is a half-brother to Maestro and just needs to trot to be in the winner’s circle shortly.  Go Home Jo & Nev’s Dream both continue to perform well, and a win is just around the corner for both these mares.

Brightly Blaze a yearling filly Vincent out of Our Narissa Franco will be heading off to be broken in shortly.  The filly is a half-sister to Crazy Shippo, Telemachus and King Tintin who have won 32 races between them. She will remain in the ownership of Yorkshire Park.  The Yorkshire Park part owned 2YO filly yet to be named by Vincent out of Neishars Jet is progressing well under the care of Graham Lyon.  Really looking forward to this filly gracing the racetrack in the near future.

Late March I was appointed by the Minister for Racing to the Harness Racing Victoria Board after being concerned as to where harness racing in Victoria was heading.  I’m looking forward to the challenge but understand the industry in Victoria is in a very difficult financial position.   No doubt a clear strategy to ensure a sound financial approach, providing a future for the participants at all levels and providing a pathway for a return to all will be the focus from my perspective.

Thats about all for now.

Good luck and good punting.

Yorkshire Park Team.
